BISMARCK, ND – Local business owner and technology consultant Scott McCarthy today announced his campaign for North Dakota’s District 8 House seat. A successful business leader, McCarthy has led major technology innovations in the financial, retail, and health care industries.
“North Dakota has the potential to deliver its taxpayers the world-class customer service they’ve come to expect from the private sector,” McCarthy said. “I hope to use my experience in technology and business to help North Dakota plan for the future.”
A graduate of the University of North Dakota, Scott began his career in western North Dakota where he designed and developed software before returning to Bismarck. For approaching two decades Scott has led teams of software developers around the globe. Currently Scott is building his business, SM Consulting, into a powerhouse of modernization for his clients.
“I’ll fight for a limited government that keeps taxes low and cuts red tape so small businesses and workers can thrive,” said McCarthy.
An active community member, Scott volunteers for various entrepreneurial and business development activities. A strong supporter of the second amendment, he also serves as a board member for Capital City Young Guns and volunteers for Bismarck Ducks Unlimited.
Scott has been married to his wife Amy, an elementary school teacher for Bismarck Public Schools, for 13 years. Together they have one daughter, Leah. As a family they enjoy taking in all the world-class outdoor activities North Dakota has to offer.
